Master of Science in Microelectronics

The past few years have seen Singapore make rapid advances in areas of technology - especially the electronics industry. According to EDB, Singapore's achievements in this field include:10% global market share for semiconductor foundry wafer output; Home to the world's top 3 wafer foundry companies; Home to the world's top 3 sub-contract assembly-and-test companies; Home to 4 of the world's top 10 fabless IC design companies. These developments call for the creation of a talent pool that is prepared to take on leadership roles based on sound knowledge of theory and practice.

"GIST - TUM Asia is proof of excellent cooperation not only between academia and industry but also between different cultures and nationalities"

Dr. Frank Böckelmann - Corporate Vice President - Siltronic AG

The Master of Science in Microelectronics is a highly specialized programme which is jointly offered by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Technische Universitaet Muenchen (TUM). It aims to educate next generation engineers to work in silicon wafer fabrication industries. The students will learn how to realize and fabricate Si transistors (i.e., the building block of ICs) and their integration circuit. Students will also be taught essential non-technical topics such as product marketing, international management, patent law and aspects of culture and globalization. This will be mainly done by freelancers from our industry partners. Upon successful completion of the programme students will be awarded a joint Masters degree from NTU and TUM.
